I had a lumbar fusion monday, well tonight I got into a fight with my BF and started cleaning the house I bent over a few times and lifted a 3 lb bucket... I wont do it anymore. Do you think I am ok...

  • I just had my 4 week check up with my doctor and I asked the same question. But what my doctor told me was, don't bend, twist, or lift over 5-10 lbs. 2, If you do it by accident, just don't keep doing it, it will prolong the healing. I slept wrong and I did one thing one day and didn't think and bent. :S

And most of all, Call your doctor and ask him?

    Good Luck. ;)
  • Ok I dont know ow strong a fusion is. I hope the metal cage and rods did not come lose.

From this point forward you are in charge of your recovery. You should barely be out of bed let alone cleaning, bending, lifting, etc. If that's usually what you do when you are upset or anxious please tell yourself you can't do that.

I need a clean kitchen. But my hubby doesn't do it as well as I do. I've had to let that go. If the sink is full, it's full. He eventually gets to it. I keep telling myself I don't want to be back in the hospital facing more surgery so if we run out of clean dishes he'll figure out what to do.

  • I agree, my fusion was 9 days ago and there is no way I could be doing housework! How 'bout chocolate, or music as stress relievers? :)

Hang in there and let us know how you are doing!
