Well, I've made it through the first 2 weeks and to my surprise I was referred to begin physical therapy. I had my evaluation today and will begin next week at 3/week for many, many weeks.
I am blessed with an awesome therapy group to go to. This is my 3rd back surgery since 7/05, so I have a repore already with my therapists.
I have made progress this past week. I am much better with bed mobility and can roll with moderate ease. My swelling has gone down significantly. I no longer look like I am 8 months pregnant. Now I just look "thick". In fact my circumfrance was measured today, just above my abdominal insicion, she kindly documented in cm, but I just had to ask what that would be in inches~a whopping 36 inches. I can't imagine what it would have been last week~well in the 40's. I figure, I can laugh or cry~not sure what I will pick yet! LOL :-)
Today, I was able to get dressed on my own, with the exception of socks.
My insicions total about 26 inches (all 3 combined) and need a few more weeks to heal. I still have some scabs. Then I can start aquatics~which I really look forward it.
It is Spring here and I so wish I could be out and about enjoying this fine weather. It's going to be so hard to go slow and rest.
I hope ya'll are doing well and I wish you all a pain free/reduced weekend! Shari
