I had a 3 level fusion in my c spine 2 years ago. I have alot of days (more often lately) that I feel like there is a lump in my throat or something stuck in my throat. It is so bad at times that I keep wanting to clear my throat repeatedly. Does anyone else have this problem? If so maybe you can help me with answers. Thank you

  • I'm just throwing this out there: have you ever had thyroid issues? My friend had the same feeling and refused to go to the doctor because her father died of throat cancer and she was afraid that was happening to her, so she buried her head in the sand.

But when it got so bad she was having a difficult time even breathing, she had no choice to go to the doctor and they found that her thyroid was totally swollen and had to be removed.

I would really suggest going to your doctor and find out what's causing this. It may or may not be related to your cervical issues.

  • It could be hardware related and maybe something else. I would talk to your doctor about it. A x-ray of the hardware should show if there is a problem. Also your primary or a digestive disease specialist could do a swallow test and see if anything is going on, as far as when you swallow. Now the other thing it could be a sinus issue, meaning you have some type of drainage going on. But I would definitely see your primary with regards to it. For myself I had something similar but was choking on foods and it was a hardware issue confirmed with a swallow test.
  • Hey thanks guys for the suggestions. I will ask my primary Dr. I asked my surgeon about 1 year ago if it was related to my surgery and he didnt think so but thats all he said. He didnt even check. So I will ask my primary dr. Thanks again and bless you guys
