Can someone explain this to me

I had my 6 week post op checkup and Doc said the Xrays looked great. I got a copy of my radiologist impression and it is below. What the Heck? I understand my fusion area is looking good, but what are spophyseal joints?

Cervical bony fusion C5, C6, C7 with metallic plate and multiple metallic screw fixation in satisfactory
Loss of cervical lordosis may be due to muscle spasm.
Moderate to severe degenerative changes apophyseal joints.
Soft tissues look unremarkable.
Follow up examination suggested.
