Hi all. Thought I'd share my second esi experience for anyone interested. The doctor talked to me before doing the injection and asked how the first one did. I told him about the extra shoulder pain I had and he just nodded like it was normal. I told him that other than that it did nothing for me. He said that I had a lot of swelling/inflammation and that was why he scheduled this one so soon. He said if this one doesn't work I'd have to go back to the NS. They gave me Versed again and this time I don't remember any of the procedure. I didn't see the dr afterwards so I don't know if I still had as much inflammation. He had already made me an appt to see him for an office visit May 7 so I guess he doesn't think I need another one. He must not have used as much, if any, of the numbing stuff this time. Last time I could move my neck so well the first day. Today I'm having trouble moving it at all and I'm having quite a bit of pain through my neck and upper chest. All normal or to be expected I'm sure. Now I guess it's wait and see what happens. Just wanted to share with anyone else going through the same. Thanks for reading this. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to a great weekend.

Thanks my friend. I know you understand. I appreciate you being here for me. I'm sorry for sounding so negative sometimes. I really try not to let it get me down but sometimes it does. I can't give up on this esi yet. It may work who knows? That's the whole point of having it right? The doctor just didn't sound very hopeful at all. Right now it just hurts pretty bad and makes me wonder why I do this to myself you know? You're right though, there are weeds to whack...just not today. Maybe in a few days. lol.
I hope you're feeling better today too. Hope you have a good night and sleep well. Take care of yourself.

    Debbie
  • Debbie you never seem to come across as being negative.I think you have a very positive attitude about your issues. And I know you know how important that positive outlook is.Take it easy this weekend and don't overdo things, the weedwhacking can wait.Talk to you very soon. Mark
  • Congrats on making through ESI #2. I hope you're feeling better today and more importantly, I hope you're taking it easy today and the next few days to give the meds a chance to hit the right place.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one works for you. I know the "what ifs" if it doesn't are hard to deal with, but a spiney's life is usually a waiting game.

My thoughts are with you this weekend and I hope you get to feeling better.

    Take care, my friend.

I hope you're doing well. I didn't sleep much last night. Having a lot of pain this time also. Today my head is throbbing. It's one of those up the back of neck and head ones. You know the kind! I wish I had something to knock me out until it passes.
I am taking it easy. I'm giving this every opportunity to work. My family can just be mad if they want. They aren't the ones who have to go through this stuff. They've never been there so they don't know what it's like.
Thanks for your support and concern Cathie. Hope you're having a nice weekend. Take care,
    Debbie
  • I haven't had cESI's I'm concerned about your headache though. If it's bad can you go to ER? Have you taken a headache pain reliever? I hope this gets better for you. Like I said I haven't had CESI's and perhaps someone can help if they ever had a headache afterwards. Can you call the PM Dr. to let him know his advice. I don't see why you have to have so much pain with no analgesic. Take care and I pray it gets better soon. CHarry

Thanks. My headache isn't as bad right now. I've been using ice on and off all day. I also took a couple of phenergan for nausea and I think that helped my headache some too. It just makes me feel terrible.
I feel so moody and aggravated today. I wonder if the steroids contribute to that? Did you notice side effects like that?
How are you feeling? Is your injection still working? You're due for another soon right? I hope they continue to work for you. Take care and have a good night.

  • I'm not due for the second injection until April 22nd as my PM Dr. is away except the 8th and she was too booked up so I have to wait until then. I last had the injection March 3rd and feel it may have helped somewhat. I haven't had any major changes except a rash I've been getting..not sure what that's all about maybe meds? Anyways Benedryl helps and will mention it to my Dr. next time I see her. I wish you feel better today. Take care. Charry

  • Hi Debbie, I had my first cesi last Weds, I had it done at the c5 level for a c6 pinched nerve, I think it helped a little, my pm doc shot two in there, he said if it didnt give me pain relief he would schedule another one in a week. My shoulder still hurts and the pain in my neck is just the same! I will do another if they think it would help, I dont want surgery but my ns said he thought surgery would take take care of the forminal stenosis, that the bone spurs arent going anywhere!! Anyway good luck and keep us posted how it works for you. Anyone had sugar problems after these shots? Lela
