Sore knees, ankles, and feet... Arthritis? Need to know your experiences.

I used to dance for years etc. And my knees started hurting going up stairs mostly back in the beginning of 2007 before in late 2007 my neck problems emerged.
Lately my ankles hurt, feel sore, maybe a little stiff in the morning. My feet joints hurt especially when I walk on them in bare feet. Then my knees hurt when I move them a certain way and sometimes when I walk.

I did a month ago twist/sprained my right ankle/foot moderately ...Swelled, bruised couldn't walk on it for a day or so. And then late 2007 I had this weird pressure feeling in between two on my toes on my left foot and all of a sudden it swelled up and bruised on the top of my foot and hurt for months.

Lately my ligaments or something when I stretch my arm out or leg out feels tight like I haven't stretched or moved in ages.

So I was wondering if this could be a form of arthritis? Or just due to an imbalance in my spine or something?

I see my neurologist this Monday, so I want to have some info to go in with to ask him stuff about this...Cause its been killing me for a week.

  • Sorry to hear you're having pain right now. I would see your Primary Dr. to see about the foot swelling and arm and leg pain although some issues could be going on with your cervical spine to cause the arm pain but hopefully your Neurosurgeon will have more answers for you. Probably will get a referral from your Primary for a Rheumatologist for the other arthritic pain or your Dr. may order bone scans and or x-rays also.

I have arthritis in my knee and feet and my one elbow and arm. But I'm taking an anti-inflammatory for my back so it must be helping my arthritic pain. I know when I was taking lyrica I had issues with swelling in the limbs and when I was more overweight there was more strain on my joints. I know my neck DDD causes my arm pain as when I went for PT she did a manual decompression with my neck and my arm pain eased up but I have numbness also in that arm. I hope your Dr. apointment goes well. Take care. Charry

  • Hi BP- Jen,

I am so sorry to hear that you are flaring up in so many joints. I agree with Charry that you should see your GP or skip right to a rheumatologist if your insurance will allow. I believe you will want to have some blood tests done to check for inflammation throughout your body. I believe they are called CRP, Sed Rate, & ANA & other inflammatory markers. I only know this, because they are following these and many others with my son. I am not a nurse or anything- you know.
I also find that if your dr. says you can take it, that meds like diclofenac can help if it is inflammation. They may put you on over the counter ones too to reduce inflammation. I would want to get to the source, because it sounds like it would be contributing to your c-spine issues that you have already had. Good Luck Jen!!!

    glo :)
  • Well there isn't any swelling other than the times I injured both feet doing stupid things. Well the one time come to think of it was a mystery. I did go to a foot doctor for the mystery one and since it took a month to see him there wasn't an visible symptoms so he wasn't sure what to do. er.

I will bring it up to the neurologist and ask him if he thinks I should see a Rheumy for my joint problems , as I know neuros don't deal with that. I know he would give me Mobic. Actually I have a bottle of a mobic from him for my neck , but I rather not start taking it until I see with him.

It's just such a hassle to see another specialist that will cost a lot the first time to see them you know. I could go through my reg doc, but sometimes I think he's useless lol.

So you guys think it sounds arthritic?
