Continuity of Care

These last few days I have read alot of posts about being discouraged by the care we get. Or not knowing who to turn to. It made me remember something that a lawyer told me last year.

It is vital to show a continuity of care. Whether you have health insurance or accident insurance or workers comp or government insurance you need to show that you are seeking care on a consistant basis. This not only shows that you are in active treatment but establishes a history of your problem through the doctors notes. It is also important for your health because you are being seen by your doctor who should be able to recognize changes in your health.

In my case I am under no-fault car accident insurance. If I stop going to a specialist or PT or anything else they will determine that I no longer need that particular care unless I can show a valid reason for interupting the treatment.

Today I came to realize that I need to see my neurologist again. He is the best person to evaluate all of me. I will also be seeing my surgeon but he is only interested in the actual surgery and now the complications from the surgery. I know when I tell him of the returning problems he won't be interested and that is probably a good thing.

So now there is another thing to add to that pain log. A seperate page to keep track of when I see each doctor.

  • That's why I started aqua therapy with a Physiotherapist and am going to a 4th consult Orthopedic Surgeon to show I'm actively pursuing getting treatment for my condition. I also try to walk everyday to try to strengthen my body. I also am going for injections to see if they may somehow help this time. I think I've exhausted all conservative measures and will now look for possible surgery to help.

I think this continuity of care will help when applying for pension also. Charry
