Anyone have gastroparesis due to narcotic use?

Just got back from my endoscopy and that appears to be the issue here. Gastroparesis is delayed gastric emptying, or slow gastric motility.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I also wondered whether there could be any nerve damage associated, but the GI doctor said no.

  • HappyHBmom:

I don't have that, but I have had problems from consitpation, Vomiting, pains under my right ribs, Gas. I was actually hospitalized with a blocked instestine from all this, and I am going for a Ultra sound on Tuesday. I might have Gallstones, my sister also had it and I know its more common in women then in men, but the timing was like why this NOW? I thought the problems I was having was from the Celebrex, or pain killers, and muscle relaxers, but when I saw my GI doctor, he wanted to do a colonoscopy, but I have a brother thats a doctor and he was like sounds a lot like your gallbladder. Sad thing I had to tell my GI doctor that because he missed it. I knew alot of the sypmtoms were normal from the medicine but mine just seemed more so.

Why I am trying to get off all the pain meds and all, if its postive about my gallbladder, the only way to cure it, is to remove it. Its like a appendix you can live life without it, but it seems like a perfect storm. :S

    Hope yours gets better.
  • My gallbladder is fine, but my stomach is not pushing food through like it should. The symptoms are like severe GERD. I haven't been able to take NSAIDs for quite a while.

    Stupid stomach :(
