Hi, new here, not sure i am supposed to be here, have had shoulder/neck pain for a few years now, i fell down the stairs, they say along with the seperated shoulder i had whiplash and they said c4 and c5 injury, i have been to every doctor i can think of, they put me on disability after me trying to work but kept dropping stuff, take 60 mgs morphine a day, for years now, they want to up it, horrid headaches and pins and needles in my head, left arm pain and numbness,my left shoulder blade feels stuck all the time, i tried to explain it to them but they kept saying there is nothing under therer to get stuck, tried to ride a bike again but ended up for 3 weeks needing help even sitting up it was so bad, went to hosp and they said frozen shoulder and put me on valium along with morphine, neuro said learn to live with it, stop being ur active self, u will get depressed, i have been fighting this for 7yrs now...and its slowly getting worse, morphine doesnt hardly touch the pain,,,or the pain is getting that much worse that the morphine isnt enough, not sure which never considered a site like this i have lived with this so long its all i know now. but i went from working, playing sports outdoors everything to a few household chores a day and then doing nothing, on a good day i can do a few things, but i pay for it for days, not just the pain, but my body just crashes, and they say its my bodies way of dealing the the pain, by wanting to sleep and heal..so do i have the right to be here i feel like my pain is very insignifigant to so many others but i have a hard time living my life quietly, and now disability i have to answer too as well, which i hate, anyway just wondering..thanks Lyta

  • Welcome to Spine-Health. Yes, you're very welcome to be here. There's a wealth of information throughout the site and the members of the forum are very friendly, knowledgeable and supportive.

I'm not sure I understand your situation completely. I understand that you're in pain, but not sure why you're only getting meds and not talking with a doctor to get to the root of your problem.

Have you seen a spine specialist? Have you had an MRI? You say that you have C4-5 injury, what exactly is the injury? My neck from C4-7 was a complete mess and I saw a fellowship-trained ortho spine surgeon who specialized in severe neck problems and he performed an ACDF on me and I'm much better than I was.

Please tell us more about who you've seen, what your condition is, what you've had done, what doctor you've been seeing, etc. The more info we have, the more we can help.

    Take care,
  • Good morning Lyta,
