Question for "LADIES"

So I have noticed that my back and leg pain gets way worse around the time of my period. Does this happen to others? What do you do? I understand the the extra fluid probably causes extra inflammation. Would a water reduction pill work? It really is extra bad for several days, hate it!!!!

  • Much, much worse. In fact, with my age and irregular cycles, it is the one way I know one is coming. The only thing that helps me is additional muscle relaxers, heat and warm water (pool, bath).

  • I agree with Cheri! I never used to have even the most mild cramps, but now I can 'tell' for sure when it's coming! At my stage, the 'cycle' only lasts a day if that, but it is very uncomfortable to painful at times. You sound normal to me!!! :)

    PCTF C4 - T2, Laminectomies C5, C6 & C7. Severe Palsy left arm/hand.
  • Before my hysterectomy I was miserable. I was on more than off because of endometriosis. My back wasn't quite as bad back then, but it hurt a lot more during my monthy cycles. I couldn't even imagine the pain it would cause with my back in it's current condition. I hope you find some relief, for me it was 2 heating pads. One for the front and one for the back. I was eating advil like candy. Maybe you should call your doctor's office and see what they think you should do.
  • when i was having my periods i would become very ill, having to go to bed.. my doctor recommended a shot which stopped my period for a year. :D there were no side effects and i had this injection several times until my period stopped on its own.. this is a very personal decision, but made a world of difference in my life at the time. my life became one of a whole month instead of just part of a month!! i wish you the best and hope you are feeling better soon..... Jenny :)
