This tuesday will be 13 weeks since my surgery:Laminotomy;L4-5 Discectomy .I started PT 5 weeks afterward and because of a couple of cancelled sessions I will shortly finish 8 weeks of PT .

What is the follow up ?Should I be joining a gym ?

  • I'm guessing you feel pretty good if you are thinking about a gym. That's outstanding!!

I would talk to your doctor and your PT. I personally need the motivation of knowing that I am paying for a gym to make me do the exercizing. Just make sure you know if there are any restrictions.
  • I was told after my PT that there are certain exercises I shouldn't be doing until after a year post-op. And of course there are specific exercises I need to do every day.

Ask your surgeon to be sure you're doing the best thing for your back and not risking any further problems.
