I had spinal fusion in december 2009. I had a good day or 2 a few months after PT but since then I am miserable. Dr says all X-rays look great and I am healed. The only thing they say is maybe my body is not tolerating the rods and screws they stuck in me. I have to wait until December to have them removed. I cant work, cant collect disability and do not know what to do.I hurt more now than before my surgery.

  • I'm guessing this is coming from your surgeon. Have you talked to your other docs about this? And have they done anything more than xrays? I would consider getting some other opinions from your doctors. Maybe he's right but I would want to get more info.

Hope you can get some answers. Good Luck
  • Hi,

There is such a thing as a hardware block where they can put meds around the hardware and thus may reduce your pain till they can remove it. See if you can talk to your surgeon about this as a possibility. The other question is do you use any of the nerve meds, such as cymbalata, lyrica or nuerotin. What about a muscle relaxer or something to help you get through till this time. Have you tried explaining you need to work till the surgery and so you need some relief? keep us posted and I hope they do something.
