Hi - I have my MRI report so that I can explain more what's going on. . Main thing "I'm in alot of pain" & no help from Dr. He's a surgeon & said "I don't want surgery" - I just take it I'm too bad for surgery. Plus I'm 59. I also have DDD. He just basically sent me home. I did ask about steriod injection/pain Dr. which I have not got appt yet & I hate them as many yrs ago I had that in lumbar & swore never again as it made me so nervous, no sleep & wt. gain.
MRI as follows:
Thoracic: The spinal canal appears patent at all levels.
Spinal cord image is normal throughout its length. Mild
posteriorior disc bulging is seen at T5-T6 which contacts the cord but does not produce cord compression. There
minimal disc bulge at T7-T8 & T9-T10. Disc heights &
vertebral heights are well maintained. STIR images reveal
no evidence of a marrow replacement process.
LUMBAR: Multilevel disc bulge is noted at L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5 & L5-S1. Central canal is patent at all levels.
Schmorl's nodes are noted at the inferior endplates of L4
& L5. STIR images reveal no evidence of marrow edema or a
marrow replacement process.
At L3-L4, broad-based posterior lateral disc bulge produces
moderate right neural foraminal stenosis. At L4-L5,
broad based disc bulge produces moderate left neural
Multilevel degenerative changes as noted in lumbar spine.
Thing about it - I have been hurting worse (prior to reading
this) and since Dr's visit. I have swelling in back area &
a "pricking" pain at times when I move. I called & spoke w
nurse - I ask could this mean full hernination - but she
said no. Like I said, no reason even to go back it
seems, so I feel so hopeless!!! AND, my kidney blood test
function have been off - & practioner wants me to see a
kidney specialist..(I only take pain med - when I have to
have it - but lately more than usual) I did take pain med
regularly everyday 4 mos. after rotator cuff extensive
surgery & therapy - but I have to say - this thoracic pain
is much much worse than any rotator cuff surgery.
Thank you for reading & I appreciate any input and
suggestions. Also - is there a pain med that does not
effect the kidneys as bad??
