Had a date with my doc today and he ays he was not happy with the results of my Caudal epidermal injection. I got a 60% relief for about three weeks. So I am scheduled for 6 Facet injections,L3-S1, next Thur. He said since the CPI did not give good enough relief, we have to try other things to find the cause of my pain. My MRI show moderate arthritis in the facet joints so this is the next step. Hopefully these shots work or I may looking at surgery.

  • Sleeprgirl and I have both been going through these Caudal epidurals and are both getting questionable results. We have been comparing notes all along. I just saw a Physiatrist for the first time yesterday and I am so thrilled!! He is taking over complete control of my treatment -- medication, therapy, injections, etc., and he has me scheduled for a Facet injection on 9/28. I am right with you in the hope that this will be more effective. He seemed very optimistic, and now I have renewed hope.

Best wishes with your Facet Joint injection!

Sleeprgirl, I hope you can find a Physiatrist that will treat you holistically. I have been looking high and low, and I finally found the right doctor! Good luck to you as well!

  • Reformed, so glad you found someone! I did the facet joint injections (anesthetic only) and then the radio frequency ablation. I was very pleased with the results, although it took quite a while for one side to quiet down after the procedure. Good luck everyone!
  • I hope your facet joint injections have helped. I receive several fji's with the epidural for lower back and have had some relief from these injections. #6 epidural and facet joint injections and nerve blocks coming up for me Oct.7 Ice your back after the injections. Take care. Charry

  • The RF ablation really scares me. There is another thread on the topic and there are several less-than-favorable posts there. One step at a time. Once I'm at 1 year post-op, I'm going to seriously consider an SCS or a pain pump (if these injections don't provide long-term relief).

Meanwhile, my PT has me doing "press-ups" every 2 hours to try to loosen up my lower back. At that rate, I'll be looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger in a couple of months because they are harder than push-ups due to the resistance in my lower spine. LOL.

Well, as Arnold would say -- "I'll be back..."
