as many of you know i have recently had a discography and it was painful but on the day and the day after i thought that i would be in agony and i thought that the leg pain would come back ..but it did not i thought i had got away with it ...THEN over the weekend OMG !!the ache from where i was stabbed with the needle is bloody agony and i just cant get comfy at all i hope it goes away soon .has anyone else experienced this post discography?

  • Hi Tony,

Yes, the pain from the discogram can be really rough. The only thing that helped me was ice, rest and meds. It will get better as the days go by. You will also probably get some nasty looking bruises too.
    Take care,

  • its very achy ..we are used to pain but this is different and my TOS has flared up too !!! i can't bloody win .i am resting and ice and my shiatsu massager is helping now i can bear to use it {the shiatsu massager } i say again discographies hurt like hell .i thought i would be find as i have had so many needles in my spine but the discography OMG it felt like a sward rather than a needle!!its definitely got worse over the last few days but like you say it will go away soon i know that ...i just hope that it goes sooner rather than later
  • the consultant told me that he would see me in clinic in two weeks ..the letter dropped on the mat this morning .16 NOVEMBER that's a little more than two weeks !! ...
  • 12 oct ..there was a cock up at the hospital admin block! and just as i have been telling everyone that my back settling down from the discography ..guess what ???its flared up again !!!! why me ?
    tony x
  • Lots of ice, & pain meds,.I told you previously how bad my discogram was, I couldn't walk for at least 3 days, horrible pain, but the ice did help....a little. Mine was back in April, lots happened since, but I was messed up. Tensed, spasms & really hurting for a good two weeks post discogram. And still had odd feelings at injection sites for a month or so.
Hang in there! It's got to get better!

Just have someone check the sites for any signs of infection, which besides pain & discomfort is one of the big risk factors. Not trying to alarm you, I am sure your discographer gave you these facts, it is a RARE complication.

I have the shiatsu massager, not sure if its the best thing for you right now, I was told specifically not to use it, I love that thing! However, I over used it and had some bruising on my back which is how the topic came up during that procedure, but then again the guy was a jerk, so who knows!

It's odd, some people have them & say piece of cake! others have little complaints, then there are people like us that SUFFERED BIG TIME!
Hope you start getting some relief, quickly!
  • I haven't had a disco and so I can't contribut anything to why you would suddenly start to hurt so many hours after the procedure. I hope by the time you read this thatyou're doing some better.

Need to go lie down--came home this morning in a rigid clamshell brace which keeps me alert, to put it one way, lol.

  • I have had 3 done Tony and after each one they pain was so intense my GP was giving me daily Tramal injections...

I would be letting my Dr know ASAP how much pain your in as it should have started to settle a little by now..They may have stirred up the nerves and thats causing you extra pain.
I asked my Specialist when I went to see him after the first one and he said a lot of the pain comes from the contrast as it can flare up things and also your spinal cord swells and causes extra pain..I even had a few falls after them as my right leg would just give way so be careful gettin up if you have any pins and needles..

Did they give you antibiotics at the same time as they did me to prevent any infection.

Thinking of you as you go thru this tough patch my dear friend and let me know how you get on with the Dr..
