I am 30 year old. Back on 1/22/10 I hat a lumbar laminectomy. As soon as I woke up I experienced numbness throughout my calf ankle, foot, and toes. I was told this is normal. I was told my back had shattered disc fragments and my nerve was freyed like a rope. He put some fibrin glue in and thought I was good to go.
I complained the week after of severe nerve pain (mind you, I had been much better before the surgery). I bugged the doc non stop. He finally seen me in 3/10 and said I had to wait longer because it was too soon, even with the pain I was experiencing. I then in 4/10 finally got the MRI and was told I had a fluid filled cyst growing on my L5-S1 nerve root area. He suggested I have it explored. He opened me in 4/10, explored and removed the cyst. I immediatley felt relief from the pains I was experiencing. I then went on with life, some pain, nothing severe. Then in 8/10 I was starting to get back to working out, and the pains started to return. It's horrible, I do not sleep at night. I had another MRI and was told the cyst is back and it's bigger. I have been through 3 doctors, and the final one had to meet with specialist. He told me the specialist should wipe the hands of me and send me to Cleveland clinic. My problem is, am I getting worse as I wait for answers? I feel I am. I am so stressed out from lack of sleep, nerve pain, I just don't know what to do. Why do these doctors seem so afraid of me? I now have a new symptom of severe, but not painfull, calf spasm's. I just started getting them today. I have had them for over an hour now. Any advice or stories may help me.
