I went to the pain specialist the first time today for consultation. He said he would "inject pain med into the painful thoracic area". "Ouch!!"
But explained this was a test that would till him if my pain was coming from the facet joints or the muscles.....???? Talked like it is sort of done like a nerve block with out the steroids because I am very sensitive to steroids he is going to try this first.
(it's been yrs since I've had alot of steroids that didn't do we well)

I forgot what they called this, but has anyone else had this procedure done? Afterwards it depends on how long ii'm pain free .... 1 hr or a few days. Where he thinks the pain is coming from.... Now what he can do about it if it's just 1 hr --- I don't know!!!

Comments please!!

  • Yes, I had this done too. It's just a facet block- if you are pain free for a few hours, they know your facet joints are pain generators and can do another procedure, called a facet ablation, where they burn the nerves out (I had both done).

    Good luck!
  • i had a facet joint injection for diagnostic reason...i didnt help at all so now i go to epidural steroid injection directly in epidural space...wish you luck :)
  • I am having the same injections on the 22nd of October :) Transforminal Epidural Steroid Injections T 7/8 and T 11/12

Trying to shrink the discs just a tad.... I doubt it will work but willing to try anything at this point.

Love feeling "Physco" from the Steroids :)

    Good luck with yours,

  • I just had Epidural Steroid Injections in my T11 and 12 I had it before and it helped so i did it again I also have a lot of presure in mine for awhile after the shot, I also had S1 and L4-5 and hip done kind of sore still :O
  • Oh I hope I don't have pressure in it afterwards, have enough pressure there now. Today I'm wishing I was having it in my lumbar too, ( which I can later). I was on mobic ( anti-inflammatory ) drug I've been on for years. I had to get off 2 wkd ago because it was elevating my kidney blood work. It was helping more than I realized I guess because with DDD, my entire spine is now on fire. Arms, legs knees, everything was giving me a fit today. How are we to manage more pain ?
