Worsening of pain after Medial Branch Nerve Block

I had a Medial Branch Nerve Block performed on 9/28 and my pain has become far worse than before the procedure.

I found this article on Spine Health that mentions nerve damage or worsening of pain as risks:

I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what did you do about it, if anything.

  • Dear Dave,

I am so sorry to hear that your pain has worsened since your nerve block.

I just read the article you posted and was wondering if you have contacted or seen this doctor since having your nerve block?

If you haven't, please call and let them know that you are in worse pain since having the block.

I haven't had this particular nerve block and I hope others will chime in with their advice and/or experiences.

Have you tried ice or heat to help alleviate the pain? Did you get adequate rest after the procedure? Do any of your medications help the pain?

Please let us know what the doctor says. It's terrible when you go in expecting to get relief and you come out worse than you were!

I will be thinking of you and will be anxious to hear what your doctor says. I have heard that it can take about 2 weeks for some blocks to take effect, but you're going on three weeks now.

    Please keep us posted, Dave.

    Tammy >:D<
  • Dave, this really frightens me to pieces! I really hope this isn't you...I pray your doc does something better to treat your pain this week. I'm so sorry
