All of you can read my info that I have had a 2 level PLIF and am having a ALIF 2 level in Dec. My question is, I keep having pain in my ribs. Really low on the side. I have been checked for kidney problems, and dont have my gall bladder, or apendix. I am wondering if this is disc related, and if anyone else has this.
It is sharp pain on the bottom rib and comes and goes. Sometimes it is a pain scale of 7 sometimes just a 5. Any suggestions? Since I am getting my fusion, I didnt think I needed to ask the Dr, as if it is the culprit, the surgery should take care of it,I hope. ;)

  • Robin,

I have the occasional "rib pain" similar to what you're describing, and too a super sensitive skin just below my breasts in front due to bone spurs and DDD at the T8/9/10 levels.

A guess if I may? It could be your prior PLIF is causing your posture to change just this > < much, and there is irritation on your lower thoracic going on? Again, just guessing. See if you are real conscious of your posture if anything changes? If it does, then maybe that's the culprit. Please keep us posted on how it goes. *HUGZ*

  • i have rib pain too at times, mostly upon awakening. i have had a lumber fusion but am not sure if this pain is related to that or not - the new alignment of my spine. i do have a monster thoracic bulge too though and am thinking this might be a more likely culprit for me.
