Hi friends,

I talked to my surgeon and he said I need to think about having the hardware removal on my left side of the lumbar spine do to horrible pain on the left side of my lower back and through the left leg.

Have any of you had your hardware removed? If so did it help or hinder your healing process?

I had the hardware removed on the right side and I have not had any problems with that side now I am dealing with the left side.

Please tell me what you think...

  • I had my hardware removed from L4/5 fusion and don't regret it. I was solidly fused after 2 years. The hardware was giving me 24/7 pain. I still have residual back pain, but its a lot better than it was.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for your response.

I had partial removal on the left side and it was great it was almost the same time I had the back surgery. So I am thinking this will do the same. I have horrible pain on the left side with all positions and with walking too.

What do they do when taking out the hardware?
