My name is Cass. I am having an L-5, S-1 fusion on Monday.
I just want to get it over with and end up healthier than I am today.

  • Welcome to Spine-Health. You'll find so much info here on the site and the members of the forum are great - very supportive, knowledgeable and helpful.

Sorry to hear about your fusion, but most of us know what you're facing and the emotional confusion and physical pain that led you here.

I always hate to wish someone "luck" on their surgery, but for lack of a better work I'm doing it anyway. Please know that we'll be here for you during the days leading up to surgery and during your recovery.

Don't hesitate to ask questions or just ask for some support. That's what we're all about - helping those whose shoes we've walked in.

Take care of yourself and make sure you're prepared with you "station" when you get home. If you haven't already, look at the post-op must haves in the surgery section and see what you think you might need. For me, the imperatives were the toilet riser, grabber, pillows, walker and someone to help the first couple of weeks.

Hope you're getting all set - we'll be here for you.

Take care and make yourself at home here. You may find this a great place to be during recovery.

  • Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. You'll find a lot of support before and after your surgery here at SH. Here's a list you may want to check out if you haven't seen it yet of post-op must haves. http://www.spine-health.com/forum/back-surgery-and-neck-surgery/post-op-must-haves-0

    You take care. Charry
