Myelogram scheduled

edited 06/11/2012 - 8:50 AM in Neck Pain: Cervical
Myelogram scheduled for end next week.
Advises welcome.

How do you find my new MRI logo!!!

  • Myelograms are pretty straight forward procedures. I have had multiples of them by different doctors and different facilities and they were for the most part the same. You want to be sure you have a driver. Also the day of the procedure clear your schedule as afterwards you will need to lay flat, for the remainder of the day.

At the facility you will do the normal change into sterile clothes the doctor should talk to you. Then they will insert the needle into the space with some numbing medications first. Once that it is done and the dye is in they will tilt the table to move the dye and take pictures as they need to. Mine have always been followed by a CT so that might be in your case as well. Following the procedure you will be asked to lay flat for sometime anywhere from 1-3 hours before they release you to home. Once home just be sure to follow the orders of laying flat, you don't want the headache that can happen from a leak. It is not like a normal headache it is like a freight train going through your head. So just follow all the orders and you should be good to go. Hopefully they will find the answers they are looking for. Keep us posted on how you do and the results.
  • Thank you for your detailed description.
I will pay attention to your tips and follow the orders to ensure no headaches (for sure!!!).
    Keep you posted.
