Hello All - I had the anterior cervical discectomy done on 1/18. I've been off work since 12/16. I've been wearing a hard collar when "active" and a soft collar when sitting and sleeping. Three weeks after surgery Dr said I could lift up to 25lbs. I am keeping lifting limited and slowly getting back into normal life things. I drove for the first time in 2 months yesterday. I should be going back to work next Tuesday. I am not sure if I'm ready to go back Full Time yet though. I am still needing the Tylenol 3 as my neck aches at times. Most of the nerve pain is gone, still get some pain if I wake up in an awkward position. Sometimes my hands get a bit tingly but a little adjustments of body and it goes away. I picked up my bone stimulator yesterday and have been instructed to use it 1/2 hr a day for 90 days.
I have no idea what the average is on recovery time for this procedure. I'm sure it differs person to person, but I'm sure there is an average? I am hoping to go back part time for 2-4 weeks. We'll see.
I'm glad I lucked into finding this forum.
