Hi everyone i am 25 y/o male From the philippines. I had microscopic discectomy last Jan 13, 2011 and i had urinary retention and numbness and weakness on my left leg an some numbness on my right.

I was dx 5 yrs ago with HNP l5-s1 and undergoing conservative management. Last aug 2010 my back pain increased in intensity and did repeat mri and sowed a new herniation on l4-l5 with severe canal stenosis. Had conservative tx but then last jan the pain increased and longer tolerable. Had no urinary problms befre thw operation.

Im almost 2 months post op and still has urinary retention im doing intermittent catheterization every 6 hrs.my neurosurgeon said evrything will comeback. On the bright side my back pain is gone and can sleep soundly. Planning to repeat mri next week.

Does anyone had the same problem an can shed some light and hope for me that everything will come back specially my urination. An if it will, how long and what i can do to hasten recovery? Thank you for your time and godbless!
