Hello, I am scheduled for a TLIF fusion and lum mab l4-5 and l5-S1. The notes say a 2 level fusion of l4-5 and l5-s1 with TLIF and lum lam. I have 2 tears in my back, so the doctor is combinning the surgery's together. My worry is that with my current back health- I have Degenerative disk desease, and with the added pressure, will need a 3rd level done within the next 5 years. My doctor says that i will most likely have to have the 3rd layer done. I've done some searching and reading the forums and havent seen too much in terms of the success rate and management of having 3 level's done. I've had discograms and tried burning the nerves and nothing has helped. I'm really worried about the 3rd level. Please any and all advise will be nice.

  • Sorry, the Spinal fusion is a PLIF, Posterior spinal fusion, with TLIF and lum lam
  • I can't comment on your condition, but after every fusion that I have had the Dr. has always said "If you continue doing the type of work that you do, I will be seeing you in a couple of years". Well, He was right! Four surgeries so far! Have had L3-L4-L5-S1 and C4-C5-C6-C7 fused so far. I also have two more herniated discs at C7-T1 and L2-L3 that need attention soon. Just had my C4 fused to my C5 on 12-29-2010. Good luck to you and take care of yourself after your surgery. You only have one back.
