Nerve block injection coming on Tuesday

Hi there,

I've finally got to the front of the waiting list and have my Nerve block injection on Tuesday.....Hooorah! I'm really nervous though. My specialist has explained nothing to me, just sending me a very short letter telling me he'd put me on the list. He promised me I won't be in pain forever, but he promised me that 6 years ago when i started having Sacroiliac joint injections and they only work a few weeks and then i'm in pain for months until i get to the front of the waiting list again.

I'm worried it will be the same. Has anyone else had this injection who can shed some light and if it helped them? also known as Nerve root injection.

Thanks. x

  • I too am having selective nerve root blocks on Wed! I posted a thread last night as all though I've had a host of procedures & therapies and even spinal fusion, I've never had the nerve block.
Wish I could offer some insight but I am awaiting response to my thread. TAMTAM did post a reply under my thread titled Selective nerve root blocks if you want to check it out.
Good luck Tuesday & I hope you find relief!
  • Hi there virginiap! Thanks for replying, I will go and find your thread.
    Good luck on Wednesday .
    Mer :-)
  • How did you make out with your SNRB?
I posted an update in my thread.
    Hope you got some relief.
  • Ok, its been 4 weeks now since my injection. I know they said it could take 3 weeks to work but does anyone know if that is for it to gradually start from the 3 weeks or from the start? I'm not really feeling much difference. Maybe at night i don't get woken up at night so much but i still need to take pain killers. I just thought it would take the pain away properly.

Has anyone got any feedback from their experience of nerve block injections?
  • I'm glad you're able to sleep at night though now. I had a 20% decrease in pain and it took up to 3 weeks to work with the steroids to start working for me and I always took it easy for 3 days after the nerve blocks and put ice. However I had also facet joint injections and an epidural every 6 weeks x 6 but overall still only 20% relief but I'll take whatever relief I could get. I did get more relief from the epidurals for my leg pain and it lasted a few months but the pain is coming back now a few months later. I'm soon due for more injections however I'll never get 6 injections again only 3. For me the injections don't last long and had to go at least 3 times a year before the 6 last year. Take care. • Sorry you did not get the relief you had hoped for.
Me either! about 5 days after nerve block, I felt pretty good, that lasted a day & half! Had follow up with NS he said dont expect anything else! Oh well we tried!
Keep fighting Mer to get well.
    Keep me posted.
    Wishing you pain free days!
