Long story short about how I got here - I fell at work four weeks ago and have been in severe pain ever since. Along with my prior problems. :( Went to Primary doctor and got x-rays and found it to be normal. Still had pain so they referred me to a specialist. After a long drawn out process I finally got in today to see the specialist that happens to be the same doctor that has done two of my prior surgeries (very nice and compassionate doctor). Well, I went in today and I got a TOTALLY different side of this doctor. He was very short and uncaring. He said the x-rays did not show anything warranting any further investigation. He also told me I could probably benefit from a mylogram and PT but WC would not pay for it so no need to go that route. He said to take muscle relaxers with heat and go back to work tomorrow. I started crying!! I can not believe I got hung out to dry like that. They do not want to even attempt to see if there is a problem. I am done with WC, they do NOTHING to help you. I have NEVER in the last 10 years, been treated like I was today, by this doctor. Even when I was crying going through the reflex tests and examination, there was no care in the world.
I got home and called my primary doctor's nurse and she was floored that they didn't at least order a CT scan or anything. She is going to schedule me an appointment sometime this week to go in and discuss what I feel I can do at work so she can get my restrictions in place.

Does this sound typical for WC? This is my first real experience with it and I am truly feeling like they don't believe that I am in pain. I am scared to death to go back to work. I can barely get around as it is.

Any thoughts? Advice?

I am VERY stressed about all this! I don't know what to do!! HELP!!

Thanks for all your support!

Call your caseworker at WC. I was in the same situation as you and could not get the care I needed. Have your case worker suggest a doctor that you can see for another opinion. Tell her that you are not getting the care you need. I have found that my caseworker was very helpful.
  • I will give that a try!! Thank you for the suggestion. :)

Hope you have a great pain free day!!
  • Wish I had a good answer for you. WC doctor told me 11 years ago I had my condition all of my life I just didn't know it and there was nothing that could be done for it. I was young and stupid. I just refused restrictions and went back to work in pain. I didn't realize there were tests that could have been done that would tell them how long the bones had been fractured. Anyway they really did me a favor because I couldn't imagine letting them do my surgery. I am glad I got to choose my surgeon, although it took me 10 years to get up the courage to seek out help again.
