Neck Surgery & Home

Hi Everyone. I got home yesterday after spending three days in ICU and another 3 days in hospital. Had problems with bleeding and needed transfusions. My hip from the bone graft is black & blue the size of a basketball. As my surgeon went into the neck the disc ruptured. Ended up with 3 fused disc and allot of metal. Recovery will be slow, but I still would have the surgery again, knowing how bad the discs were and the nerves on the spinal canal. Talk to you all later.

    hi mindy,
Sounds like you had a rough go of your cervical spine surgery. Fortunately that other disc didn't rupture after your surgery and your surgeon caught it now. Hopefully now your recovery will go well and your pain and discomfort will diminish.
Take care and don't over do it.
  • So sorry to hear about your surgical complications : -(
Sending positive healing your way and I pray that your recovery goes much smoother for you.
    Take care of yourself!
    Gentle hugs

  • It sounds like you have had a rough ride so far.

I hope that now you are home, the complications are all sorted and that will be the end of problems.

From now on, you want to have a text book recovery and at the end of it, you will be able to get back to your life.

After all your adventures in hospital, I bet home is a wonderful place to be! :)))

  • Feeling very weak and have some dizziness today. Still need the walker to just get up and back to bed. I freaked out when I woke up in ICU, thought I was dying. I kept feeling someone pushing there hand into the place where the bone graft was to push the knot back inside
