Hello everyone, greetings from Cajun country

I'm going to try my best to make this short, but it may turn into a novel.

I've suffered for 3 years now with herniated L3-S1. After 3 failed attempts with epidural injections over the last 1.5 years I finally made the decision to have surgery. Discectomy surgery was done 8 weeks ago, and while the first week of recovery was brutal, I'd been feeling the last few weeks was getting better. This past week has taken a turn for the worse, even with me having stayed home from our business (own a catering company & cafe). Hubby and I feel that I did return back to work too soon, I went back after week 2, but did very light duty and only lasted 3-4 hours for 2-3 weeks thereafter. Tried my best not to stand longer than 20 minutes at a time before taking sit breaks, etc. But I'm hard headed and well we have a business to run in this failing economy!

I guess what I'd like to inquire with you guys is how was your recovery with this surgery? I realize everyone heals differently, pain levels are different, etc but I'm in tears as I write, not knowing where to turn anymore, I'm so sick of this pain, feel like giving up..

  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. i was born in Louisiana myself!! so glad you dropped in! i cannot help you with your questions but i am sure someone will drop by to help you.. i am sorry you are having a setback..perhaps it is time to call your doctor..doing to much after surgery is a big reason for problems with surgery..i understand you have to work, but you have to heal as well... take time to do that first!! good luck to you! ...for info and support.
I am so sorry for your tears and pain.
And the feeling of wanting to give up..I relate to.
Please, be sure to let your doc know everything of how you are feeling.
I never had surgery, so I can't have opinion on that.
But as you read through the articles and the forums.. I think you'll find something.
I do know about tears and feeling overwhelmed. It gives new meaning to one day at a time.
Hang in there. You're not alone.
