Bleeding after 2nd Lumbar disc replacement

Hi,

I'm submitting this on behalf of a friend in Germany who has just had lumbar surgery. He had 2 discs replaced about 2 months ago but there were problems so they went back in last week to do it all again. Everyday since his surgery, he has been bleeding from his wound which has about 18 staples in it. Does anyone know why this would be happening and if so, what could be done?

Thanks
Sarah

  • If he is bleeding from his incision or has any discharge, that is something that he needs to notify his doctor about. When it comes to post op care, some of the things that are commonly listed as reason to contact your doctor, are:

    fever
    discharge from wound
    increase in pain
    inability to urinate
    redness and swelling

    Hope this helps.
