I had back surgery last March, do not smoke. Not imediately,
but maybe within the year unless theres drastic changes.
I had L5 to S1 fused with a screws to stablize it, they also cleaned out L4. I had a interbody fusion because it was completely fractured. My back ok if I do nothing, but doing pt or just being active, I have a severe muscle cramp
on my rt lower back. I have alot of faith with the Dr I have we actually said a prayer before going.
He told me the next step was to have a ALIF basically through my stomach. He will keep everything he did before. I'm a little nervous I have only 1 kidney, I was born that way.I know theres people that have this done any input would be appreciated.

  • Not fusing after a year would be distressing, and after going through all the post-op pain and restrictions, and having to undergo more surgery would make one nervous.

In effect you'll end up having a 360, and hopefully you'll fuse this time.

Let us know when you've set the date for your surgery.
