Hello Pain Peeps! I had a L5S1 PLIF in Dec 2010 for spondylolisthesis, bilateral pars defect of L5 and spinal stenosis. Since surgery, I have had no real relief from my lower back pain. The surgical pain is gone, but the original pain has never left. I don't experience any sharp pains, but more of a pressure - like it needs to pop x1000. The pain is all the way across my back right at the top of my pelvis - where I imagine my SI joints are. The pressure is the worst sitting, although standing and walking aren't far behind. Laying down used to give me some relief, but for about the last 10 days it is just out of control. Pain meds are not helping either. On several occasions, if I lay on the floor, I will get an explosive pop on the left side - between my spine and hip (again I can only assume it's my SI joint). I get a sudden pain that makes me holler, then a little relief until I stand up. Right now I am waiting on the results from a MRI but honestly I value the opinions here about as much as I do my doctor's.... There seem to be a lot of you with SI issues since your fusion, but none of you really describe how the pain feels. Is this similar to what you experience? The thought of another surgery scares the crap out of me, but the pain is about to drive me insane and I am desperate for answers/theories. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
