I have been suffering with terrible back pain since 2002. In 2004 it was too the point that I had to have a Laminectomy asthe pain was just too intense, and the meds, and treatmemts I was being offered were not helping at all. This surgery for me was a complete faiure. I went 8 years scared to death of another surgery and pretty much felt my life was over. My entireleft leg and foot, went numb because the disc L5 just degenerated completely and the disc not only was right on top of another disc, my sciatic nerve ran right ontop of the disc that collasped. This pain was the worse pain I have ever in my life X's ten. I went in for an 8 hour disc replacement, fusion, titanim, screws and rods. The recovery was just incredbly hard and just much more thsn I expected. Understand when I was told I needed an 8 hour disc replscement and fusion believe I knew pain was all I would be experiencing but this was like WOW. Then coming home and healing was something I didnt realize would hut so bad I would be bed ritten for momths. I have had a discetomy, as well cut front and back, and just torn inside out. As time eventually went on there were some things I realized the fusion did help. But after going throughall this there is still something terribly painful. I was in car accident two months after the surgery and the new MRI;s show all sorts of issues that were not there. I am in so much pain I am not sure what to do. The doctor wants tp go back in and try to fix some of the new issues caused by the accident. I am sick to the stomach even thinking about another back surgery makes me cring. I have DDD in my cervical spine as well so a fusion in my neck is inevitable, especailly since the accident. The MRI shows neck injury and a torn disc. I am at loss for words amd hoenstly dont know what to do. Are there any thoughts out there that may have somne experience in a similar situation? I am so confused...continue to get cut or suffer forever....mmm? nice choices huh?
Thanks Angella

what a sxxxiy situation i dont know what you should do .i have been somewhere in your situation with car crash and 2 operation and constant pain and now need ALIF fusion all under my belt also taking similar to you in the pain killers situation ..its an awful thing to be looking at and one of my fears ..what should i do if after my operation i get involved in a car crash again ??? i am a very careful driver but you never know do you {the original crash was not my fault} .all i know is constant back pain is hard to explain to some one without pain as i just dont think anyone could imagine just what we go through every day and night .i can't offer any advice you probably know more than me and have tried all kind of pain relief techniques ?? and devices?? the only thing that helps me is my recliner its one that stand you up i dont know if you have one but if not maybe you could look at getting one ..i know that they are expensive BUT i saw one advertised in my local free paper and it was only 100 pounds {cost new over 1000 } many people get them for the older generation and sadly when they die the younger generation dont want grannies chair so they sell it for next to nothing!!.so if you dont have one maybe that could be a way of getting one ..i also saw some on ebay ..of course i could be talking to a millionaire so you could buy a new one ! sorry i have gone off track ..its the medication i hope that you can get fixed up somehow i know its hard work for people like us and no one understands except people like us! i will be thinking of you take care
