I am almost 2 weeks post op c3 c4 acdf i was wondering if anybody has any comments on having numbness above the insision site it covers the whole area acros incicion and up to my chin any advice

  • clsmeeks,

Howdy! Numbness is fairly normal as a lot of "little" sensory nerves are cut with the incision. Sometimes the nerve endings find their way back to their other half, sometimes they don't. By example, I had emergent surgery in 2002 for a tumor (benign thank goodness) and too this day, that 'hip to hip' incision site is still numb 9 years later!

My two incision areas for my fusions are still numb. It is funky sure, but normal...

  • Howdy Carl,

Happy to help where I can. As for the chest pain, have they explored an MRI or CT of your thoracic spine? A lot of us that have DDD or spurs, or disk issues have chest pains like you are describing. Also too (been there) have they referred you to a Cardiologist to rule out heart issues? Just some thoughts there for you. I hope you have answers soon.

  • no have not had a ct or mri of thoracic spine but went to hospital about 3 weeks ago because of chest pain ran me through the loops checking my heart. its all ok that is when they found the nodule in lung. but that turned out negative so i guess its back to the drawing board for me
