Here's a little background: I am 35, I have Multiple Sclerosis, I had an MRI on January 25 that showed 1 extruded disc @ L2-L3 and herniation's L1-L2, L3 down to S1. I had an MRI a week ago because I had a sudden onset of the most severe pain yet. This MRI, done on April 11, now shows L1-L2 minimal posterior disc bulging. L2-L3 Broad-based, posterior disc bulging. Posterior disc herniation with inferior extrusion. L3-L4 Disc desiccation. Intervertebral disc height loss. Broad-based, posterior disc bulging. Mild facet degeneration. L4-L5 Disc desiccation. Intervertebral disc height loss. Broad-based, posterior disc bulging. Posterior annular tearing. L5-S1 Disc desiccation. Broad-based, posterior disc osteophyte complex is left eccentric.
Medications I currently take 60mg Morphine 3xday, 75mg Lyrica 2tabs 2xday, 50mg Tramadol 2tabs 2xday, 100mg Pristiq 1xday, .5mg Clonopin 1xday, Rebif subq injection 3xweek.
On 4/15 I had 2 right side Epidural Steroid Injections at L3-L4 & L4-L5. I have some relief, but my left side is acting up now. My pain doctor mentioned surgery to me, but because I now have 4 levels to deal with she isn't sure anyone would want to operate. My Neuro believes I should have the operation, no matter what. I am scared because I fall alot (because of my MS Foot Drop) and in 3 months I have really wrecked my back.
Has anyone had damage to this extent and had a successful surgery? What kind of surgery/treatment was most helpful? Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated and more than welcome.
Sorry this message is so long, take care, stay happy and try to be pain free.
