I had the NUBAC artificial nucleus put in my L4/5 on Dec. 1 2009 as part of a research study. It has been the worst decision I have ever made. I had suffered with back pain for 10 years and thought about doing it for 6 months. I am now in the worst pain of my life. I have constant burning pain in the low part of my back where the disc is. The pain I had previously to the surgery was in my midback and my Dr.told me that I was a good candidate for the surgery. I am now on a pain patch and taking narcotics daily, and Neurontin and a muscle relaxer that don't help with the pain. I have had a nerve block and trigger point shots that have not helped me. I have another appt. this week with the pain Dr. and will be discussing putting a pain pump in. Do not have surgery of any kind on your back! I so wish I had not had this done! I feel my life is over, and I am 52 years old.
