Of course everyones disease state and surgeries are different so I'll I can do is answer in my case.
How did I feel after? .... initially better, then in my case things got worse. How long is recovery? That would be best answered by your surgeon as he knows your exact pathology and what he plans to do to repair it. It my case I am still "recovering" 5+ year later - but I'm the exception - not the rule. What changes forever? Again I am not the rule but in my case - Everything.

Please keep in mind that many cervical patients get treatment and move along effortlessly through the rest of their lives, and therefore do not post or hang out here anymore.

My hopes are that you have a 100% beneficial treatment. If that isn't the outcome, we will be here to be of support.

Keep us posted on progress - Ask your doctor these questions .. and make it a great day!
