6 weeks post op check done :)

well today, i had my 6 week surgeon check and xray for my l5/s1 fusion.

Everything is stable and sat perfectly. There was no signs of fusion yet, but he said he didnt expect to see any for 6 months.

Although i have some back pain, he says this may resolve or continue because this is my 2nd back surgery.

I havent worked for 17 months because of my back and today he says i should be considering a phased return in a few months with reduced hours but not in my original job as an acute medical nurse, but maybe in clinics.

So, feeling good and optimistic of my future now :)

  • that your appointment went so well. You are sounding so optimistic and happy! :D

Continue on with healing and fusing, and here's to the begining of your new life! <:P

You will be in my thoughts for solid fusion taking place at your next appointment.

  • yeah, for the 1st time in a long time i can see a possible good life.

I know i will always be back conscious, and will have bad days, but to be told lets look at work, im so made up :). For so long i thought at 30 i was on the scrap heap and would forever stare at my 4 walls.

looking at your medical history, i was like you apart from i had l4/l5 bulge ontop of l5/s1 herniation, ddd, facet hypertrophy, oesteophytes and foraminal narrowing (stenosis), looks like you have an extra bulge compared to me. I hope you have as much success as i do from your fusion.
