2 weeks post op

Monday will be two weeks post op for me. (L4/L5 Discectomy and Laminectomy)

This was done as a open (vs. micro) procedure and I was admitted for two nights in the hospital. There was a bit of an issue with getting pain under control initially while in recovery but it was addressed quickly.

At this point, I am basically having some pretty decent days with some rough days mixed in. I feel confident in saying that right now...some of the nerve pain seems to be less than before surgery. I also know that this is in the early stages so I am pretty guarded in that response. The nerve pain that I am having is very intense when it makes itself known.

I am scheduled to have to my sutures removed this Tuesday, and I am very much looking forward to that! Even though I received the ok to resume real showers last week, it is quite an order dealing with this bandage and sutures. (My incision is approx. 3 inches...possibly 4.)

It's early in the recovery process, but I know there were a few who have been waiting to hear from me and I apologize for not posting sooner.

I am here, though I may not be kicking quite yet. :)
