C4,5 & 6 Fractures

edited 06/11/2012 - 8:53 AM in Neck Pain: Cervical
I was in a terrible car accident on April 8th of this year. My car was completely totalled and I was airlifted to a trauma center. I broke my C4,C5 & C6 vertibre, had a spleenectomy and severly broke my talus (ankle).I was hospitalized for 10 tens 5 of which I was in ICU. Spleen area healed great I was just able to take off my MiamiJ Collar that I've worn constantly even in the shower. But now that I have it off my neck is very sore and I don't know why. Its 740pm where I am now so I can't call anyone. I was just wondering if it's normal since I havent been able to move my head around for over a month? A friend said moist heat tried it but it's still sore! Does anyone have any answers to help me? Thanks so much!

  • You broke it in April and you are already de-collared?! wow that usually takes 3 mos minimum. I would avoid heat I think and use ice. I'd worry that heat will cause swelling. Swelling should be avoided. Good luck. Be very careful with your neck. If you are sure it's supposed to be off, stiffness is common as is soreness.
