hi, am now 7 days post op after having c1,2 and 3 fused, this has really knocked me for 6 and have an infection, low b.p. etc etc. Had 16 staples out today and 6 stitches, area feels better but struggling with collars and eating. Has anyone had this noticed the grating, crackling noise when chewing, feels and sounds like your chewing a filling.? ;)

  • I am 4 weeks out of ACDF. I haven't had the issues you mentioned. I have had a lot of problems with swallowing. I have to chew things to tiny nothings and still have some problems swallowing. It has slowly improved over time.

Did you have any of that noise before - any jaw issues?

  • No chewing on file sounds but it is still a bit hard to swallow at times and I'm 7wks post op on Monday...hope you find your answers and let us know how it all goes!!!
  • Hi, no , it is deffinately the plate or wires, i did have trouble swallowing but not too bad now, sick of soup and ice cream though, did manage chips last night mmmm. Take care michelle
  • I had noises in my neck for 6 months. Now I rarely have them. If I do they take me by surprise and really resonate in my skull! My NS said it is normal. I had my surgery Oct 2009. They are hard to ignore, but I think with time they will lessen.

    Good Luck!
  • Just checking in on you michwat, how is your recover and healing going?
