Hello Everyone,
Has anyone ever experienced a burning pain in the back of the neck. This has happened to me on three separate occasions. The last two times lasted a few minutes. This time it was more intense and lasted longer. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I was at my desktop when it happened. What could be causing this?

  • Burning pain usually has to do with irritated nerves. If it does not let up you might want to go have it checked out. Maybe something is irritating them. Hope you feel better soon! :)
  • Sukiee,

Howdy, sorry this new symptom is affecting you. When my C6/7 blew, I had burning in the base of my neck, the shoulder and the shoulder blade.

Like Splendagrrl said, burning is more common to nerve related issues. You might want to get with your GP or even your Neurologist to be sure things aren't changing in your neck. Hopefully it will be a passing symptom and stop soon. Please let us know what you find out.

  • I hope that you have had this checked out since you posted last year. I had my C4-7 fused last year. C6-7 is where the nerve goes through the spine for your right shoulder and both arms. I had injections for 10 yrs before I lost 40% use of both arms. I hope you get this checked out and resolved. Mine is worsening, I start injections again next week. Either I over did it or the 3 tier fusion is weighing on that nerve again and it is inflamed again. Best of luck!
