Hi, I'm new here but not new to cervical spine issues. I had a disc replacement, fusion and plating done in 2007 on c-6-7 and was told at the time that my c-4 level wasn't good either though I had no symptoms. Well, a week ago I started with neck and shoulder pain after sleeping on a bad pillow and then 2 days later lost a LOT of strength and movement in my left arm-my PT is very alarmed too. I have a cat scan scheduled for this week and a visit to the physiatrist and my spine surgeon and I am afraid they are going to just recommend injections then surgery if that doesn't work. Last time I spent 4mos trying conservative measures to get the disc off of the nerve(traction, PT, etc) but to no avail, but this time I have much more pain and the arm is pretty much disabled other than my grip. The weakness really worries me and I know it is a major issue. Has anyone dealt with this before and been successful with conservative treatment only? Is there a chance the injection can help with the nerve problem? I can deal with the pain more so than the weakness.
