i have just read in the NY Times a study that the drug infuse is being used on about 40,000 spinal fusion patients a year in USA. It is supposed to promote bone growth and replace the need for a bone graph. they are linking this drug with male sterility. Now i am wondering if my doctor used it on me to promote bone growth around my Prodisc's.
Any of you all know anything about this???

  • I know in females you are told not to get pregant for a year after Infuse because you will make antibodies to bone; and at least in rabbit fetuses whose mother's had Infuse they had abnormal skeletal systems as a function of how much antibodies the mother made against the Infuse protein...

Do you have a one level ADR & one level fusion hybrid? If so, there is a good chance they used Infuse on the fusion (usually L5-S1) although I seem to recall Infuse was only "on label" by the FDA for single level lumbar surgeries.
