What is an Annular tear?

My MRI report also says ; There has been interim development of a dorsal midline annular tear and a small central disc protrusion at the L5-S1 level.

Could this be the cause of pains that started about 4 weeks after my surgery? It feels like the pain that caused me to have my first surgery but according to the MRI everything in that area is holding well. I get so tired of all the BS with back :''(

  • Go to www.chirogeek.com and get into a comfortable position. Lots of reading but very well worth it!

What level did you have your ALIF? Was a discogram ever done on you?

  • I'm a little confused.
Is this the MRI from before the surgery or after?

Annular tear means the outer material of the disc 'tore'. Think of it as sausage casing. The casing is the annulus and the meat is the disc material.
  • it's the one from after
