Hi, I have not been on here for a while but wanted to share that I am 3 days out from a spinal fusion at L5-S1, I have read many stories of you all going through multiple level fusions and I can't imagine because my pain is intense with just one level.
The pain in my abdomen is so painful. It's hard for me even to rest because lying down even causes pain. I am on pain meds but even like In the hospital they make me sick to my stomach so that doesn't help.
I feel like I will never walk normal again but it's so early on. I am very optimistic that this surgery is going to be the one to help me when I get through of all this post-op stuff. I was so sore lying in the hospital bed that I begged to get home a day early just to get comfy at home!!
Does anyone have any one piece of good advice to get through the days ahead, it feels so bad. I had anterior fusion, I had a lumbar pyramid plate installed with cadaver bone, I have no back pain besides stiffness from lying in bed so much, I guess that's a good sign. I still have some of my left sided sciatic pain but that may ease with time. No numbness (yeah), 6 inch incision across my abdomen, that hurts the most!!
Any advice will be greatly appreciated,
