Its 5 am and race is ready to begin. Leg pain geting in to position. Hip pain already in the gate.Nerve pain looking good this beautiful morning here in Pain park. Sunny and temp in the low 90's Todays race should be another fantastic race. Nerve pain is the the favorite and is the one to beat. With 5 specialists nerve pain is well conditioned and been our top performer. Oh wait Cramp finaly enters the gate.

Get your bets in. Race is on for today july 6th 2011

And they are off! Leg pain takes the lead! Hip pain follows in 2 nd place followed by Cramp , Nerve pain runing last. Wait what we have here? Is that a rabit in the midle of the field! Move you stupid rabit you dont belong there. Besides trix are for kids. Ok well that was close.

Back to the race. They coming around the turn, Leg pain still in the lead Nerve pain passing Cramp moving in to position taking 3rd place. Hip pain trying to keep up with Leg pain but is followed by Nerve pain slowly catching up.

Looks like nerve pain been saving itself for later in the race.Cramp is way behind and just cant keep up. Hip pain falling back over come by Nerve pain now in 2nd. Leg pain is hanging in there but nerve pain is moving like lightning coming in to the finish stretch.

Nerve pain closing in while Leg pain stumbles. Nerve pain makes its move and takes the lead, Leg pain trying to recover. They near the finish line runing neck to neck. Leg pain looking tierd Nerve pain not leting up . Nerve pain still on the move taking the lead crossing the finish line,,, Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. Nerve pain again wins.

Just another day in the Pain park of a spinal patient in chronic pain. You either go crazy or just go with it. Or both!

  • HI,
You know, you may be in pain, but that is one of the coolest posts I have ever read... Felt like I was at Saratoga, and they were coming around the last turn!
Sorry that you're so miserable, but you spirit and humor are right on!! Hope today is better, and some one named less pain comes in first!!!
  • too funny !
that's the way to lead the race called life!
  • What happened to little white pill? I am made he didn't even get in the gate? Oh wait I know he is in the second race along with stretch and knife to beat nerve pain?

Alex, when I head over to the OTB, what are Odds are you giving us?

I tried looking up the stats on Alex Nerve vs Leg Pain and I could only get a few months worth a data.

    I am looking for a long shot maybe 1000 to 1 ....

If you give me some inside information that perhaps can improve my odds of winning, I will give you a 30% cut from the winnings.

  • I read everyday and I have to say as miserable as I am that what hysterical
  • That was hilarious!

Good thing you used horse racing analogy. Had you used NASCAR it would be more like. Massive crash coming out of Turn 3, Pain and Spasm bump causing 20 car wreck. Oxycontin slams Percoset who smashes sideways into Fentnyl ripping through Cymbalta. Lyrica and Flexeril took bad hits and are limping back to the infield. Spasm and Pain pit quickly for fresh tires and gas and move back out to the 1-2 positions for the restart. Only 499 more laps to go!

  • Sounds about how my mornings start, except eventually the little white pill kicks in and starts skidding everything else to a stop. Pretty humorous analogy the only thing that stinks is that this damn race never ends - ever!
  • Yes, Alex, using the horse racing analogy of ur situation was just ingenious. =D> Of course, you did always have a way with words and a way of making others see and imagine things the way u saw them. =D> How does one have such a sense of humor at 5 a.m.-especially with all that pain? ~X( I take my "country girl cap" off 2 u. image:)" alt=">:)" height="20" /> U sure u weren't havin' a fantasy or dream about being in Kentucky, perhaps at the Kentucky Derby?? At the end of ur race, did u get to drape the roses over urself and the horse u rode in on? =)) Was there a party thrown, in ur honor, when u won the race? <:P Or, did u win? :W I, personally, loved ZO6'S analogy with the NASCAR race, now that was funny!! =)) Well, Y'all have a nice day. Keep :)ing and hang in there! Remember, no matter how bad u hurt there's ALWAYS someone who is hurting worse, in one way or the other. Alex, hope ur feeling better soon and hopefully one day ur horse will come in 1st!! U just keep trying and if u never finish a race, hopefully some horse owner somewhere has a nice pasture u can retire in. I)
  • I am sure my horse "The Blitz" would be happy to share his digs with you Alex. He is pretty bored himself since I can no longer ride him anymore. He'd probably enjoy more company out there. LOL! I went up to my property in the mountains this past weekend, looked at my corral and bawled. i will still take my horse up there, but he will just enjoy the shade and beauty of the mountains eating in the meadow when I let him out. I used to get on him at 6 in the morning and go till 6 at night. We rode trails and canyons, thru creeks and streams - God it was amazing. My favorite thing to do in life ever and I was lucky enough to get my dream horse when he was a baby. Makes me sick that I will never ride again..
  • Wow Alex, I loved that! It sure is the truth......we may as well laugh at ourselves or otherwise we may cry. I'll choose to laugh! ;-)

  • I needed a good laugh today!!
    thanks Alex!
  • Alex,
Think you might need to head that horse towards the doc's office, sure is a b**ch when that is of not all really helpful. Keep your humor, you help us and it will carry you through too, ......hope so. Barbaro was a beautiful horse too

    Pain medication
I called my Dr"s office to ask them to call in a refill of my pain medication today. They asked which one? I said the one that causes kidney failure, liver damage, causes suicidal thoughts, and constipation along with bleeding of the internal organs, ulcerative colitis with vomiting'. She asked is that all? I said if you have something that will cause rectile dissfunction and anxiaty, rash with respiratory infection would be great. She said we are right on it they will call it in.

  • Rofl and lmao!!!!! God I needed that today . Thanks buddy
  • I have been folowing your posts Alex but have been unable to comment

A new, very ugly pain has joined me in bed! This one is such an ugly fellow! He has long fangs and sharp claws!! My floor flew up and smashed my right hip. A foot stoll had set itself right in my way.

Oh no.....I did not black out!! I had to stay awake and feel all the agony while I inched my way across the floor to the phone for help. That took almost 3 hours!!

Pain pump came through the ordeal just fine!! How amazing is that Alex?? I will put my pain pump up against anything pain can throw at up!! My wonderful pain pump is a winner!! =D>

I understand your pain and cheer your posts. You are the greatest my friend!! 8>

Thanks for the smiles Alex. I really need them to break thtough this new foggy agony.

    Your old friend

  • That is scary, you being there all by yourself and hurt. I'm so glad you came thru that ordeal. That is really scary!
Can you tell me something about the pain pump? Is it an implant? What do they put in it and how do you fill it? How often?
  • I had to dig through the barn for that one.
.......also was thinking of a great song to ride too and that would be Neil Young...."then needle and the damage done"
    ..hang in there.

  • Sorry to hear that Pat. You must of been wearing your gravity boots again walking on the ceiling if the floor came up and hit ya. Hopefully it is not too serious Pat and it will heal without having to have any surgery. The good old pain pump i guess can take a licking but keeps on ticking. I guess it was not made in china. Good luck

  • Alex.....I did have to have a hip replacement! I pulled the hip bone out of the socket and crushed the bones. Oh the agony!!It really hurts to break bones!!

But this great pain pump "took a lickin and kept on tickin!! Pretty amazing huh? I must admit I was worried but all is well.

Mouse....My pain pump is implanted in my side between my hip bone and my ribs. I go for a rifill the 15th. They use a needle to do the refill. The pump has a self sealing port in the top they inject the meds through. First they withdrawl the old meds out of the pump and fill with fresh. All I feel is a needle prick. It just takes a few minutes.

I have Dilduid in my pump and only need a refill every 6 months because I have the larger pump. But each time I get an increase the refill date changes.

I never think about my pump. It just goes quitely with it's job of helping ease my pain.

Having my pain pump implant is the very best thing I could have did for myself.

  • when i was going through horrible time with brain surgery i was referring to surgeons as Stallone's myself. Thank God i rode a great one myself, you never know.

You are a funny one, have other half steal you something to brighten your day/evening.

  • Oh wow so sorry patsy, i did not realise it was that serious. Are you doing pt now after the hip replacement?

Jane. I m just no beter and no worse just simply bad all the way around lol. When the nerve gives me a break then legs and back hurt where i could barely drive today. No mater how i sit in the car i cant find a place to put my legs or my ass where it feels good enough to drive long distance. I just about wanted to step out of the car to stretch out the legs while car was moving. I hate that feeling

  • Very funny post, I loved it!

My hubby has a racing joke he tells about "Chewing Gum sticking to the rail...etc." (can't remember it all, it's 1:30am), but this one is much more to my liking.

    Thanks for the laugh, buddy.
