Not new to back pain and was member during and after L4L5 fusion in jan 08. Recovered well and had r shoulder replaced Dec 2010. I fell on steps (landed on rear on edge of step) Feb 9 2011. was diagnlosed nondisplaced sacral fractujre and sent home with no activities to avoid. That eve my right leg gave way and I fell again landing on r hip.excrutiating pain landed me back in hospital. CAT done and no further injuries reported. 3 more months of agony and I was referred to neurologist. Fracture of right pelvis and right hip found. I had been walking etc and suffering all that time. now L5S1 stenosis also a problem. A week ago my right ankle and foot started to swell with fluid and terrible nerve pain.My left to lesser degree. Now the skin is mottled red & purple but not hot and no fever. also ultrsd done ruled out clot. Has anyone had this happen as a result of this type of injury? ER Dr baffled and don't see ortho about repair to pelvis until later in week. I appreciate any input.

  • Welcome to the site.

I had an issue a couple of years ago when I got out of bed and had instant pain in my foot/ankle. It swelled like crazy. I went to my primary and they sent me for an x-ray - nothing. I went to my rheumatologist and they sent me for tests for gout - nothing. Finally I thought, well, the problem is swelling and pain in my ankle/foot (red & purple), so I went to a Podiatrist. He immediately knew I had a partially torn tendon in my foot. He said he often sees them of women "of a certain age" (50 or older). I was just a little younger than that (lucky me). He put me in a walking boot and sent me for an MRI to assess the damage. The boot helped stabilize the foot/ankle and help it heal.

Let us know how you're doing.
