Ankle pain

Hello All. I am scheduled for a Laminectomy/Discectomy on 8/12. This is my second one. Tonight on the way home my right ankle got a pain in it and I had to stop walking several times. After resting for a while, I got up and my ankle did it again. It is more on the top of my ankle. My back has been throbbing for the last few hours but only about a 2 or 3. My question- could my ankle be from my herniation? Perhaps it is a coincidence? My leg is fine, it is just the ankle which is now aching some now.

  • You can take a look at a Dermatome chart and see if it matches the level you're getting surgery on. What level are you getting done? I have a weak and sore ankle and have DDD at L1-S1 but still seem to have the same ankle problems from my herniated L5-S1 and my ankle gave out a few times. If the ankle pain is new or red, hot or swollen see your Dr. Take care. Charry

DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN
  • Thanks for your reply. I am having the L5-S1 done again. I have an appointment tomorrow morning and will definitely talk to the surgeon about it.
