Exercise dvd for back pain?

terestrifetterestrife Posts: 3
i dont have money or a job at the moment so i cant go to a back doctor. about 5 years ago, i was lifting something while i was hurt from yoga, and i experiences a horrible pain in my lower back, that didnt get better until a week later, i was stuck the whole week walking like the hunchback.

ever since then i have been plagued by this pain. i researched online and i believe i have sciatica. my pain begins in my lower back and also to the back of my thighs. its like a stabbing pain, like someone is getting something sharp and stabbing my back and it happens when i do heavy lifting and high intensity workout. the pain also travels from pressure on my heels (like when i run/walk a lot)and i feel the pressure on my heel shoot pain up to my lower back back. sometimes for a second i will lose strength in my knees, only for an instant though, and my knees will kind of give in for a second.

its a constant thing and it gets in the way of my exercising, i lost 100 lbs and its gotten better. but i need to be well to continue to exercise and keep the weight off. is there anything i can do on my own without a doctor? some kind of dvd of stretches i could do everyday? i found some but people complained that the exercises were not safe.

please any advice would be appreciated, i am so tired of this pain.

p.s. the only thing that helps me is a heat pad, and ab exercises, but its only temporary and it doesnt deter the pain from coming again.

  • Sounds like you are already doing everything that you can do without a dr. Not sure what else you can do without knowing what is wrong. If you cant work it out and its on going, at some point you will have to see a dr a spine specialist. Sciatica symptoms are caused by so many diferent back conditions only an mri or some test will confirm whats the cause.

Other then that there is no way we can say what work out is safe for you and what one is not. If the spine was that simple to where we just needed to excercise we would of all exercised instead of going under the knife. You the only one that can feel what helps and what dont . You might have to adjust to day to day living doing what dont agrivate it if you want to avoid a dr and posible surgery which in some cases made us even worse. Good luck
